The Prairie Food Co-op will be a retail grocery store based in Lombard that focuses on healthy, local, organic and sustainable food. As a cooperative, it will be community member owned but it will also be open for shopping to the public. Owners have input into the products and services offered by the co-op plus owner savings opportunities.  Food co-ops have a direct effect on local economies: on average every $1,000 spent at a food co-op generates $1,600 for the local economy
