The Lombard Historical Society and the Prairie Food Co-Op will host a local food “Harvest Fest” from 4-7pm on Saturday, September 21 at the Victorian Cottage Museum in Lombard at 23 W Maple.
This old-fashioned, family-friendly event will include square dancing, face painting, and demonstrations on churning butter and pressing cider. The Fest will feature locally-sourced organic corn, sausage on a stick, and a variety of heirloom apples. Local beer and wine tastings will be offered as well. Food and beverage tickets are available for purchase at event.
The proceeds from Harvest Fest will support the Carriage House Expansion Project and start-up costs and a feasibility study for the Prairie Food Co-op. The Prairie Food Co-Op is a proposed community-owned grocery store offering year-round, local, organic, and sustainable food. The Lombard Historical Society operates two museums in Lombard and is currently designing new exhibits for the Carriage House. More information about the Harvest Fest is available at www.lombardhistory.org or by calling 630-629-1885.
