'Mad For Fashion' Show Features Mid-Century Modern Style
Where does mid-century style fit into your closet? Come and find out at the Lombard Historical Society’s fashion show and tea at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 21, at the First Church Multitorium in Lombard. The Mad for Fashion show will feature vintage mid-century styles in addition to current looks inspired by the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s. The event is a fundraiser for the Lombard Historical Society and is co-sponsored by The Ladies Room in Lombard and Vision for the Art of Hair in Bloomingdale.
The Mad for Fashion Show was inspired by the television show “Mad Men” and explores the fashion trends of the mid-century in America and where they appear in current fashion styles. Mid-century modern style is a popular trend among fashion design and home decor today. Show-goers will be delighted with the vintage styles worn by models and will learn about cutting-edge trends in ready-to-wear fashion.
Helping out the Historical Society with the Fashion Show are two co-sponsors, The Ladies Room Consignment Boutique, located in Lombard, and Vision for the Art of Hair in Bloomingdale. The Ladies Room is a women's consignment boutique that sells quality recycled women's clothes at great prices. They accept anything from a woman's closet with the exception of intimate apparel. They offer a 40/60 consignment split for all sold items on a 60 day contract. If items don't sell within the 60 days, they can be picked up or donated back to the store. The Ladies Room donates to places such as The People's Resource Center, Poised for Success and other local organizations. They are currently accepting spring/summer merchandise. Hours: Monday – Friday 10am – 7pm. Lauren Cassidy of Vision for the Art of Hair will be the stylist for the models at the fashion show. Lauren embodies the very essence of a hair stylist/ colourist professional. In 2009 she became a Redken Certified Haircolourist. There are only 1500 hair colourists that have achieved this high honor.
Finger-foods, and coffee, tea, and punch will be served at the event. The cost of the event is $25 per ticket and all proceeds benefit the museum in Lombard. For more information call 630-629-1885. You may also purchase tickets online to www.lombardhistory,org.
